Schedules
Who do I call when I have questions or need to make changes to my student’s weekly schedule?
One week (minimum of 24 hours) before the change needs to take place, please contact Diane Hepner, Transportation Administrative Assistant at 262-642-6710 ext 5901 or hepdia@easttroy.k12.wi.us
When should I notify transportation if my student will be absent?
Please contact Diane know at 262-642-6710 ext 5901 or hepdia@easttroy.k12.wi.us, ideally 24 hours’ notice or at least by 6am the morning of if your student is absent and the only one picked up at the stop.
Can my student ride home with a friend?
According to Board Policy, no, they may only ride on assigned buses unless it is an emergency.
Where can I find my student’s bus schedule?
Schedules will be emailed out at the end of August and available at the school’s Ready, Set, Go conferences. They are also available on the Stopfinder app. We know there were some kinks in the program last year, however the software company has been working on them.
Safety
What is a “Red Runner”?
A Red runner is a vehicle that does not stop for the school bus red lights and stop arm. Not only is this incredibly dangerous, it is also against the law. We have recently installed stop arm cameras on all our buses to help local law enforcement issue citations in hopes of reducing occurrences and making the routes safer.
Routing
Why can’t my kid be picked up in front of my house?
This could be a variety of reasons. If the road is less than 18 feet wide or if we need and do not have a safe turn around spot, we cannot go down that road. If there are sidewalks to allow kids to meet at a central locale, we have a group stop as this saves time on the route and time the kids are on the bus.
Why is my kid on the bus for so long?
Routes are evaluated every summer for time and efficiency. Our goal is to make sure a student is not on the bus for more than an hour. Sometimes we must route the bus a certain way to ensure that it is safe for students. Whether it is an obstructed view because of a hill or a curve or we have certain roads that we will not have a student cross the street unless absolutely necessary. For example, Highways 120, 20, L, D and ES have increased speed and a high occurrence of red runners. Your student’s safety is our top priority. We also try and keep a balance between the AM and Pm routes. For example, if a student is last on in the morning giving them a short ride, they will also be last off in the afternoon creating a longer time in the afternoon and vice versa.
My student’s driver went above and beyond, how do I make sure they are acknowledged?
Please email Rachel Neubauer, Transportation Director, at neurac@easttroy.k12.wi.us. We are always looking to celebrate our drivers and a good word from you goes a long way!
