To those families already a part of the Little Prairie community, we hope you had a wonderful 2017-18 school year, and are looking forward to the year ahead. To those families new to Little Prairie Primary School, welcome! Here at Little Prairie, we pride ourselves on being a special learning community that meets the needs of East Troy’s youngest learners.
The Little Prairie daily schedule is structured to include academic blocks, focusing on literacy and math instruction, as well as opportunities for intervention or enrichment, as needed. Additionally, individualized learning is ensured by engaging students with a personalized learning environment, and meeting students at their instructional level. In addition to the encore areas of Physical Education, Art, and Music, students 5K-2nd grade also take part in Smart Lab programming, which offers a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) experience. Students now have a 5K-5th grade Smart Lab experience. It is just one additional example of how we are creating systems and practices that recognize the talents of each child, through programming, differentiation and choice. Instructional practices, in combination with the use of student achievement data demonstrate our commitment to a year plus of growth for all students.
Not only are we proud of the academic structures we have in place, but we also pride ourselves on the quality environment we have created. Students have been taught what respect, responsibility, caring, and safety look like within the context of the school day. We hope you will find ways to reinforce those expectations throughout the summer months. Our staff has created a community BINGO Board, which includes a variety of community-based activities to engage kids and families in activities that reinforce our expectations. Boards were sent home with elementary students, and are also available in the school offices. Completed BINGO Boards can be returned to school offices during the summer or at Meet the Teacher and Orientation nights in August. Have fun!
We are proud of the Little Prairie school environment. Our instructional practices, in combination with a focus on the social and emotional needs of young children, create an educational experience that best meets the needs of our littlest learners, and prepares them for future success.
