Student Learning is at the Core of Everything We Do!

The Student Learning Department is dedicated to ensuring all students have access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success in a rapidly changing world. We support and guide rigorous curriculum development, effective instructional practices, and meaningful assessments that align with the Wisconsin Academic Standards and meet the diverse needs of our learners.

We work collaboratively with educators, families, and the community to create personalized learning environments that foster academic growth, social development, and lifelong learning. Through student engagement, strong leadership, and consistent instructional support, we strive to bring our vision to life in every classroom.

Our mission is to provide a personalized learning environment where each student is at the center of the educational process. We are committed to offering individualized learning opportunities and flexible assessments that promote the 6 C’s:
Creativity, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication, Content, and Curiosity—empowering students to take ownership of their learning.

Educational Options

As required under Wis. Stat. 115.385 created in 2015 Wisconsin Act 55 - The East Troy Community School District offers students a variety of educational options to children who reside in the District. The District’s primary educational pathway and instructional program for students involves a progression from 4-year-old kindergarten through 12th grade, leading to a high school diploma. Some of the specific education programs offered to eligible students who are enrolled in and attending the District’s schools include the following:

  • Advanced Learning

    The Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network and East Troy Community School District support Advanced Learners through enrichment and advanced academic opportunities.

  • Career & Technical Education (CTE)

    Career & Technical Education in East Troy provides students with academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners.

  • Early Childhood

    Early Childhood supports young children with developmental delays or disabilities through individualized services to promote growth, learning, and school readiness in a nurturing environment.

  • English Learners

    East Troy Schools support English learners with tailored programs to help them succeed academically and thrive in a diverse, inclusive environment.

  • Global Literacy

    East Troy Schools support English learners with tailored programs to help them succeed academically and thrive in a diverse, inclusive environment.

  • Human Growth & Development

    East Troy Schools foster student development by addressing physical, emotional, and social health through thoughtful education and support programs.

  • Rural Virtual Academy (RVA)

    Rural Virtual Academy offers flexible, online learning tailored for ET students, combining personalized instruction with digital curriculum to support academic success and adaptability for diverse learners.

  • Summer School

    Summer School offers students opportunities for academic support, credit recovery, and enrichment to reinforce learning, stay on track, and explore new interests during the summer months.

Equitable Multi-Level Systems of Support

At East Troy Community Schools, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Our Equitable Multi-Level Systems of Support (MLSS) framework is designed to meet the unique academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students, through high-quality instruction and targeted support.

MLSS provides a tiered system of support:

  • Tier 1: Strong, evidence-based classroom instruction for all students.

  • Tier 2: Targeted small group interventions for students who need additional help.

  • Tier 3: Intensive, individualized support for students with greater needs.

We use data-driven decisions and collaborative problem-solving to ensure that students receive the right support at the right time. Our goal is to close gaps, promote growth, and create a school experience where all learners thrive – academically and personally.

For families, MLSS means:

  • A consistent system of support across all schools and grade levels.

  • Early identification of student needs.

  • Ongoing communication and collaboration between school and home.
