Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS)

Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) builds on the positive behaviors already working in each school. These behaviors then become expectations that are taught and practiced school-wide.  PBIS schools have created a more positive environment for students and staff by establishing clear expectations for their students and taking active steps in teaching, modeling and reinforcing appropriate behaviors school wide.

Congratulations to East Troy Middle School for being named School of Merit by the Wisconsin PBIS network for the 2015-2016 school year!

Schools recognized as Wisconsin PBIS Network Schools of Merit are:

  • Implementing critical elements of tier 1/universal PBIS with fidelity (as measured by the Benchmarks of Quality)
  • Using behavioral data (Big 5 data) within a problem solving framework in order to improve the outcomes of students
  • Regularly using fidelity tools (www.pbisassessment.org) to self-assess and plan implementation efforts

East Troy Middle School's Be on Target Philosophy

The school-wide process emphasizes the creation of systems which support the adoption and durable implementation of evidence-based practices and procedures, and fit within on-going school improvement efforts. An interactive approach which includes opportunities to correct and improve four key elements is used in the school-wide process focusing on systems, data, practices and outcomes.
