Optimist Oratorical Contest
The Mukwonago Optimist Club is sponsoring its annual oratorical contest for the students of the East Troy/Mukwonago area. Winners will receive the following prizes. Local first prize is a check for $100 and an Optimist medallion. That winning speaker will be forwarded to the Zone level of the Contest. The Zone level winner must attend the spring Optimist convention where he or she will present his/her speech Second prize is a check for $75 and that contestant will also advance to the Zone level of the contest. Third prize is a check for $50. The winners of the Zone contest advance on to the District Level. District Level winner will receive a plaque and a $2500 college scholarship.
Theme of speech this year: “ What the World Gains From Optimism” (at least 4 minutes but not more than 5 minutes)
Age: The contest is open to students under age 18 as of October 1, 2016 who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent.
Deadline: The application for the Speech must be sent to Edie Simons S78 W31358 Sugden Road, Mukwonago, Wi. 53149 by Wednesday, March 15th, 2017. The Oratorical contest will be held at Mukwonago Public Library on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Choose a time – either 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. or 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Students should pick up an application blank which contains the list of Oratorical Contest Rules from the office or the public library, or you can download a copy from the internet. Just go to “Optimist International Oratorical Contest - Application Rules Pad -- 2016-2017” Be sure to send your completed application form before March 15, 2017.
